Two Hampton Roads high school basketball teams had a chance to take their team to the state championship Saturday. The Maury Commodores boys and Princess Anne Lady Cavaliers took to the Ted Constant Center to see if they could take a step closer to a state title.
The Commodores had to come back from a 13 point deficit late in the game against Potomac and brought their lead down to 1 with 9.9 seconds left. Unfortunately it wasn't enough as Potomac held on to win the game 55-52.
The Princess Anne Lady Cavaliers had a battle of their own against Mount Vernon. Princess Anne converted 28 of their 40 free throw attempts en route to a 65-57 victory. With the win, Princess Anne advances to a girls record sixth straight championship game. They will face Highland Springs for the title on Friday, March 14th at VCU. Gametime is at noon.
