A 51-year-old James City County woman was killed after her vehicle struck a tree on Saturday night.

James City County Police responded to the crash in the 9500 block of Barnes Road around 9:00 p.m.

Police say the woman, Bridgette Rogers, was driving a 1993 Mazda Protege northbound on Barnes Road when she swerved left and over-corrected, sliding off the road and striking a tree.

She was killed on impact.

Police say she was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and speed is not believed to have been a contributing factor.
