Home damaged after fire in Chesapeake

Chesapeake, Va. – Firefighters in Chesapeake put out flames at a home in the Great Bridge section of the city on Monday. They say a child was playing with a lighter which is what caused fire.

They were called out to the 500 block of Greenway Drive at around 7:47 p.m. A family of five lives inside of the home.

After they arrived five minutes later, they saw smoke coming from the house.

They were able to put out the flames by 8:13 p.m.

They say the damage was contained to one room and there was some minor smoke damage throughout the rest of the home.

They say the family has not been displaced and no injuries were reported.
