Man recovering after being shot in groin

Newport News, Va. – A man is in the hospital after he was shot in his groin area in a Newport News home Friday night.

Police say they were notified about the shooting at around 8 p.m. They say this happened in the 600 block of 43rd Street.

The 33-year-old man suffered what could be life-threatening injuries.

Police say he was at a friend’s home when someone knocked on the door.

He was confronted by two men and shots rang out inside the home.

Police do not have a motive for this shooting yet. Police say when they arrived, they found a blood trail across the street where the victim was found. Police say they found drugs inside the home where the man was shot.

They are still investigating this case.
