Isle of Wight County, Virginia – A Surry County Sheriff’s Office deputy was conducting a radar operation and observed two motorcycles speeding shortly after 12:30am Saturday.
The deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the motorcycles continued speeding and a pursuit began.
One of the motorcycles, a 2003 Suzuki 1300 series, lost control and crashed on Old Stage Road at Wrenns Mill Road.
The driver has been identified as 36 year-old William Cary Parker of Smithfield.
During the crash, Parker was ejected from the motorcycle and struck by the deputy’s vehicle.
The deputy immediately stopped to aid Parker while the other motorcyclist continued eastbound on Route 10.
Nightingale was called but Parker died at the scene.
Virginia State Police is investigating the crash.
