Edenton, N.C. - Edenton police have arrested two men after an armed robbery attempt in their city Friday night.

Police say around 10:30 p.m. a man dressed in dark clothing, wearing a cloth type mask and armed with a handgun came into the Famous Subs on N. Broad Street.

Witnesses saw the man get into a green Pontiac Grand Prix or Grand Am with Virginia Tags. It was driven by a heavy-set man. It was last seen headed toward Highway 17.

After a BOLO was issued, Pasquotank County deputies stopped a possible suspect vehicle on Highway 17 near the Camden County line.

According to Edenton police officers, the two occupants matched the descriptions of the two suspects and after a search of the vehicle they found the handgun used in the robbery.

Police say one of the suspects confessed.

Two men from Newport News, 23-year-old Antoine Thomas and 24-year-old David Sydnor, were both charged in the robbery and are now in the Chowan County Jail.
