A fatal crash closed Sandbridge Road in Virginia Beach for several hours on Monday morning.
Virginia Beach Police say the single-vehicle crash occurred in the 1600 block near Atwoodtown Road around 6:30 a.m.
Police say the vehicle was reportedly traveling westbound on Sandbridge Road when the driver, 29-year-old Donald S. Brinkley III, lost control, crossed into the eastbound lane and ran off the road.
The vehicle hit several trees before coming to a stop. Brinkley was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say speed and road conditions are possible factors in the crash.
