Newport News, Va. – A 21-year-old man was arrested after a crash Monday morning that closed Warwick Boulevard and caused traffic backups during the morning commute.
Newport News Police say they were called to 10604 Warwick Boulevard at 2:31 a.m. and found that a silver Toyota Corolla had struck the Village Groomer and Pet Supply building.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the driver, 21-year-old James Addision DuRant, was traveling southbound on Warwick Boulevard when he struck a power pole at Brandon Road, continued down Warwick, crossed the median at Shirley Road and crashed into the Village Groomer building.
DuRant was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He has been charged with driving while intoxicated and reckless driving.
