Vigil tonight to honor victims of Virginia Tech massacre

Today marks the seventh anniversary of the deadly shooting at the campus of Virginia Tech in Blacksburg.

At one minute after midnight, a ceremonial candle lighting will take place, and the names of the 32 lost that day will be read out loud.

The Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets stood watch for the first 32 minutes of the day.

The Day of Remembrance will end tonight when the Ceremonial Candle is extinguished at 11:59 p.m.

Vigil in Virginia Beach:

The Tidewater Chapter of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association and the Virginia Tech Hampton Roads Graduate Center have invited the Tidewater Hokie Nation to a brief candlelight vigil and memorial service on April 16 to honor the members of the Hokie family who lost their lives in 2007.

The 30-minute event is being held rain or shine at the Graduate Center.

Attendees are encouraged to wear orange and maroon in solidarity.
