UPDATE: Man charged in connection to shooting of 22-year-old in Newport News

Update: Police say they have now identified a suspect in connection to a shooting in Newport News. They ‘ve charged Daniel Lewis King with malicious assault and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

They say his last known address was in the 700 block of Gabriel Lane in Newport News. 

He turned himself in to police on Tuesday. He will be placed in the custody of the Newport News City Jail. 

Newport News, Va. – A 22-year-old man was shot Sunday afternoon after getting into an argument with another man.

According to police, the shooting happened around 2 p.m. on Wesley Pond Court.  That’s near Warwick Blvd and Beechmont Dr.

Police say the victim and the suspect, who know each other, were arguing outside when the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the man in the chest.

Police say his injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

Police have not provided any information about the suspect.
