Suffolk pump station building condemned after being hit by vehicle

A vehicle ran off the road and crashed into a City of Suffolk Public Utilities Pump Station in the 1600 block of Meadow Country Road on Saturday.

The driver of the vehicle, 36-year-old Charlie Burns, reportedly ran off the roadway, traveled approximately 50 feet across a field, hit the pump station building, and came to rest partially inside the pumping station.

The building was condemned as a result.

The driver was not injured. He was issued a summons for operating a vehicle while texting and reckless operation of a motor vehicle.
