UPDATE: Larry Coney Jr. was arrested in New York on Wednesday, June 11th on unrelated charges. He will be extradited back to Virginia to face the previous charges of homicide and aggravated malicious wounding.
Hampton, Va. - Hampton police have identified a suspect in connection with a homicide that took place on Wells Court.
On May 18, 2014 at 7:28 p.m., police received a medical call for service in reference to a 3-year-old boy who was unconscious in a home in the 100 block of Wells Court.
Hampton Fire and Rescue Division responded to the scene and transported the boy to a local hospital for treatment.
On May 19 at 12:26 a.m., police were notified by the hospital that the child had substantial internal injuries.
Police immediately began a thorough investigation into the incident.
On May 20 at 12:00 p.m., the victim, 3-year-old Ka’ron Burns, was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Larry Eugene Coney Jr., a 22-year-old Hampton man whom resides in the 100 block of Wells Court, has been identified in connection with this incident. He is currently wanted for one count of Homicide and one count of Aggravated Malicious Wounding.
Coney is not related to 3-year-old Ka’ron Burns, according to Hampton police. Coney was the caretaker.
