Hampton, Va. – One person was evaluated and others evacuated after a freon leak at a Hampton Extended Stay.
This happened at around 11:45 p.m. in the 2100 block of West Mercury Boulevard on Thursday.
The fire alarm was activated and firefighters started investigating the cause of the leak.
They say the freon leak happened in a second floor work room and it came from an AC unit.
Freon can displace oxygen in the air.
HAZMAT crews were there to determine the air quality, oxygen levels and ventilation of the building.
Residents were able to go back inside once officials deemed the area to be safe.
