Woman rushed to hospital after being hit by teen driver in Newport News

Newport News, Va. – A woman is in stable condition after she was hit by a teen driver in Newport News Friday night.

Calls came in to emergency officials about the incident on Jefferson Avenue near Sam Walton Way at 9:48 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found a 43-year-old woman who had been hit as she ran across the street.

A 16-year-old boy was driving a 4-door black Mazda southbound on Jefferson when he hit the woman.

The driver and two passengers were not hurt.

Police say alcohol was a factor in the woman’s actions and no charges are pending against the driver.

This crash remains under investigation.
