Wilmington, NC – Crews have suspended the search for a 15-year-old boy who they say fell off of a boat in North Carolina.

This happened on Monday in the Trent River near River Bend.

Emergency officials called the Coast Guard at around 4:30 p.m. and reported that a teen had fallen into the water from 21-foot boat and had not been seen afterward. They say the teen was not wearing a life jacket at the time.

A Coast Guard crew went out on a 24-foot Special Purpose Craft-Shallow Water to help. They were assisted by an aircrew from Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point and boat crews from the River Bend Fire Department, North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission and North Carolina Marine Patrol.

The Coast Guard’s search was suspended Monday night around 10:00 p.m. and local agencies suspended their search around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.
