Norfolk, Va. – Officials cited a Yorktown man on Sunday after they say a loaded 9mm handgun was discovered in his carry-on bag at Norfolk International Airport.
They say he was stopped at a checkpoint after they detected the weapon using the X-ray machine.
Officers responded to the checkpoint and confiscated the gun. The man was cited on a local weapons charge.
They say the gun had six rounds of ammunition inside of it.
Weapons are not permitted in carry-on bags. They can be transported in checked bags if they are unloaded, properly packed and declared to the airline.
