Main Street Library in Newport News is closing at noon today, Wednesday, June 18, because the air conditioning is not functioning.
Repairs for the air conditioning are underway and the library is expected to reopen for normal hours on Thursday.
Other Newport News libraries are not affected.
The City of Newport News offers a number of facilities for residents to cool off during extremely high temperatures.
