UPDATE: Suspicious package turns out to be suitcase filled with clothing

UPDATE: The suspicious package has been cleared. It was a suitcase with clothes in it, police say. The 200 block of Princess Anne Road will be blocked until about 1 p.m. while crews demobilize.

Norfolk, Va. – Two road closures have been reported due to a suspicious package in Norfolk, police tell NewsChannel 3.

The 800 – 1400 blocks of Llewellyn Avenue have been shut down, as well as the 200 – 300 blocks of West Princess Anne Road.

According to police, a concerned citizen called police after finding a package described as a suitcase that was sitting in an “undisclosed area”. Several homes were evacuated in the 200 block of West Princess Anne Road while crews investigate.

The Norfolk Bomb Squad and fire crews have responded to the scene.
