1-year-old injured after falling from second story window in Portsmouth

Portsmouth, Va. - A one-year-old boy was injured Sunday after falling from a second-story window.

According to Det. Misty Holley with Portsmouth Police, it happened around 6:45 p.m. in the 3800 block of Headwind Lane. The boy was playing on a bed when he hit the window screen and fell out.

The boy was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with a head injury and was then transferred to the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters.

According to Det. Holley, he is doing well and is expected to recover.

Holley says there was a babysitter there at the time. The incident is considered an accident and no charges are being filed.
