Man injured in weekend shooting in Virginia Beach

Posted

Virginia Beach, Va. - A shooting over the weekend in a neighborhood off of Baker Rd. sent a man to the hospital.

It happened on Weblin Drive around 3 a.m. Saturday.

A  woman who lives there says she heard about eight gunshots and looked outside to find the victim lying in her front yard.

"We dove off the bed trying to take cover because it was right out here and so loud," said Shelley Clemens, who then called 911.

There were other people outside as well.  She believes they had been at a party nearby.  Some stayed with the victim, but Clemens says others took off.

"When I looked out the window, right after the gunshots, I saw people running and screaming 'come on, let's go, let's go, let's go.'"

She's thankful her kids weren't home when it happened.  Clemens believes some of the bullets hit her fence after finding pieces of it lying on the ground.  Police say a car was also hit in the gunfire.

According to police, the victim is expected to be okay.  They do not have any information about a suspect.
