Virginia Beach, Va. - A 27-year-old Norfolk man could spend the rest of his life behind bars after officials say he convinced several women around the Tidewater area to produce child porn.
He was convicted by a federal jury on 28 counts of child porn and destruction of records. One of the women police say is involved, Chesapeake mother Kanealeen Latouche, pleaded guilty in federal court. Her husband found the videos she took with her kids on her cell phone. He then alerted police.
Latouche pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual battery, forcible sodomy and indecent liberties with children. She is scheduled to be sentenced in September.
Officials say Robert Harold Scott used the online name "Mike Pyro" to communicate with women around the Tidewater area.
They say he set up sex parties where these women would work as prostitutes. Instead of paying them, officials say he extorted the women by threatening to publish sexually explicit videos.
Investigators say Scott made even more demands of the women. He also conspired to and produced child porn with five of them. When he talked about the parties, he would sometimes ask the women to produce child porn and was very specific about what he wanted done on camera.
Officials identified seven children who were involved in the child porn. The oldest was five and the youngest victim was one. Three of their mothers identified as Shaniesta Banks, Sierra Halsey, and Nina Calderon, all pleaded guilty in Norfolk Federal Court to producing child pornography. Shavonna Whitfield is awaiting trial in September.
All of the women face 15-30 years in prison for these crimes.
Scott is scheduled to be sentenced on November 12th.
