Newport News, Va. – A mother has been arrested after allegedly assaulting her 14 and 2-year-old daughters.

32-year-old Riscinda Barber was charged after police responded to a report of a fight between Barber and the 14-year-old at their home on Musket Drive on July 6th.

The 14-year-old told officers Barber threw a hairspray bottle at her which then led to a verbal argument and then the fight. Police observed bite marks and scratches on the teen.

Officers also found a red mark on her 2-year-old daughter’s face from when Barber allegedly yelled at the girl and slapped her.

Barber was charged with two counts of Assault and Battery on a family member, and one count of Abuse and Neglect of a child.

Child Protective Services is also investigating and the children are now staying with friends.
