Suffolk flag football tournament raises money to fight breast cancer

Posted

Suffolk, Va. - This weekend, a local organization is taking action to raise awareness about breast cancer.

Arminta Richardson, member of the CJA Foundation, is here to talk about the event. (Video Above).

The CJA Foundation, is named after Candace J. Avent, a local woman who died from breast cancer.

Family and friends of Candace established the foundation to bring awareness to the disease and help young people reach their goals through Christian education, academics, and creativity.

Local churches, groups, and a sorority have partnered with the CJA Foundation to support several of their events.

Along with supporting national breast cancer awareness groups, the foundation also offers scholarships to teenagers.

This Saturday, the Foundation will be hosting its 1st annual 7-on7 Co-ed Flag Football Tournament.

Money raised from this event will go to the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation.
