Chesapeake, Va. - Several people have been apprehended by police after a pursuit in Chesapeake Wednesday morning, police tell NewsChannel 3.
A police officer initiated a traffic stop at Atlantic Avenue and Martin Avenue in South Norfolk.
As the officer was talking to the driver, the driver put the vehicle in rear, striking the police vehicle, then fled.
Officers pursued the suspect vehicle to the 200 block of Haviland Road in Greenbrier, where the suspect vehicle struck a second vehicle, a pick-up truck.
The driver of the pick-up truck was not injured, police say.
The driver ran away from the scene and was ultimately apprehended near Haviland Road and Volvo Pkwy.
He has been identified as 26-year-old Quartray Dowell. He has been charged with two counts of Felony Hit & Run, Felony Eluding Police, Damaged Property and was served with a Probation Violation warrant that was on file.
Two of the passengers in the suspect vehicle also attempted to run away from the scene, but were quickly apprehended.
One of the two passengers was identified as 29-year-old Demetrius Freeman. He was arrested and charged with Obstruction of Justice. The second passenger was released at the scene.
This incident is still under investigation.
