Two lanes and the right shoulder are closed on I-264 eastbound at London Bridge Road due to an incident, according to VDOT.
Drivers should expect lanes to be closed for at least two hours.
Officials say a metal form or mold for a joint between the concrete road and bridge broke from its fastenings at around 2:45 p.m. on Monday.
Crews are trying to assess the damage and find out what caused the failure.
Virginia State Police are also investigating this incident along with VDOT crews.
