UPDATE: Man charged with arson in Suffolk fire

JONES, DION DEVONTEUPDATE: An 18-year-old man has been arrested and charged after a suspicious fire broke out inside of a mobile home in Suffolk earlier in the month on August 2nd. 

Dion Devonte Jones of Suffolk has been charged with arson/personal property greater than $200, arson of an unoccupied building greater than $200, and bomb/burn threat. 

He is now being held at Western Tidewater Regional Jail. 

Suffolk, Va. –  An early morning fire destroyed a car and damaged a mobile home in Suffolk on Saturday.

Units arrived at the scene at 5:46 a.m. at Bullock’s Mobile Home Park in the 3800 block of Pughsville Road to find the car fire had spread to the mobile home..

The fire was extinguished and under control within 12 minutes.  The vehicle was declared a total loss.  The mobile home was new and not yet occupied.

Engines 5, 25, Ladder 5, Medic 5, Battalion 2 and the Fire Marshal responded to the fire.  No firefighters were injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
