Crews secure gas leak in Suffolk at Bridge Road, Bennetts Pasture Road intersection

UPDATE: Suffolk Fire & Rescue and Suffolk Police advise that the gas line has been secured and all affected roadways in the area reopened at 11:05 a.m.


Suffolk Fire & Rescue are currently on scene at a gas leak in the 2500 block of Bridge Road at the intersection of Bennetts Pasture Road.

A contractor doing work in the area damaged a 6” gas main, which caused the leak.

Columbia Natural Gas is currently en route.

Bridge Road is currently shut down to Crittenden Road for northbound and southbound traffic until further notice. An officer is directing southbound traffic at Crittenden Road at Bridge Road.

Nearby residents are asked to shelter in place at this time. No evacuations are requred.
