Accomack County, Va. – A 43-year-old Painter, Va. woman is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Accomack County on Tuesday. She’s been identified as Tammy Laverne Ayres.
At around 3 p.m., Virginia State Police responded to the accident on Route 13 at Route 852.
They say Ayres was driving a 2009 Mercury Milan and was traveling Northbound on Route 13. She lost control, spun into the southbound lanes of Route 13 into the path of a 2004 Chevrolet Suburban. Ashley M. Samsel of Delaware was driving.
The driver of the Milan died at the scene.
The driver of the Suburban suffered injuries and was taken to the Peninsula Regional Hospital in Maryland.
Officials say alcohol was not a factor and everyone was wearing a seat belt.
The family members have been notified.
