UPDATE: This flash flood warning has now expired.

A flash flood warning has been issued for Northampton County until 10 p.m.

The National Weather Service’s Radar has indicated very heavy rain that could produce up to 2 or 3 inches of rain in one hour from thunderstorms. There’s a line extending from 7 miles north of Cheriton to 8 miles south of Bayview.

These warnings mean that flooding is imminent or happening right now.

Please move to higher ground now. If you live along streams and creeks, you should take precautions to protect life and property.

Do not attempt to cross fast flowing waters or waters of known depth. Don’t drown, turn around!
