The USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) is undergoing its refueling and complex overhaul (RCOH) at Newport News Shipbuilding.
The final section of the ship’s 38-foot upper mast section was installed last week. The section weighs 38 tons and was lifted in sequence by two cranes.
A mast-stepping ceremony was held on the for Lincoln shipbuilders and crew on the flight deck to commemorate the milestone.
According to Huntington Ingalls, the carrier’s RCOH is 45 percent complete and on track for an October 2016 delivery.
