A man was rescued during an industrial accident in Portsmouth on Monday morning.

According to Portsmouth Fire Department Battalion Chief Michael Stockton, the man was using an excavator to move “crush and run” gravel from a pile that was 30-40 feet high.

While the man was operating the equipment, the pile collapsed on the excavator, breaking through the glass and trapping him inside.

Fire and rescue crews removed the debris from the excavator and freed the man after about 15 minutes.

He was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
