Newport News, Va. – A 19-year-old Newport News woman faces multiple charges after allegedly attacking her husband and slashing his tires in front of their infant daughter.

Abigail Cruz was arrested Monday for incidents that happened on August 13th.

It all began around 5pm when Cruz allegedly damaged her 18-year-old husband’s vehicle with a pair of pliers and slashed the tires while their infant daughter was just a few feet away. After damaging the victim’s vehicle, Ms. Cruz threw the pliers at the victim and struck him in the back before leaving, police say.

Police were called a few hours later Cruz returned, attempted to enter the home and threw an object through the window when she could not get inside.

Cruz had left by the time police arrived, and warrants were obtained for assault on a family member, violation of a protective order and child neglect.

She was arrested Monday around 5pm in the first block of South Pine Court in Newport News.
