Man apologizes to WWII vet after allegedly beating him up while visiting sick wife

Cincinnati – An accused would-be robber had a little change of heart after he allegedly attacked a man outside of a hospital in Cincinnati.

According to WLWT, an 86-year-old World War II veteran was visiting his sick wife at the Good Samaritan Hospital.

When he was in the parking lot walking to his car, he was attacked by 30-year-old Craig Phelps police say.

Police say Phelps punched Paul Browning and pushed him on the ground. He then tried to steal his wallet police say.

Browning would not give Phelps the wallet so Phelps then helped him up and apologized. Police say he thought Browning was someone else.

Browning was hospitalized and Phelps is now facing attempted robbery charges, possession of cocaine and drug abuse instruments.
