Crews working to repair damaged light pole in Norfolk

Norfolk, Va. – Crews are making repairs after a Volvo struck a light pole in Norfolk, officials tell NewsChannel 3.

On September 2, 2014, around 1:45 p.m., police received a call regarding a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of East 26th Street and Monticello Avenue in Norfolk.

Police say a man driving a Chevrolet pick-up truck was traveling southbound on Monticello Avenue, disregarded a red light, and struck a 2-door Volvo driven by a woman who was traveling eastbound on East 26th Street.

After the truck struck the Volvo, the Volvo then struck a light pole.

Dominion Virginia Power crews are currently on scene, and are making repairs to the light pole.

All traffic northbound and southbound on Monticello Avenue is being re-routed onto East 25th Street, and East 27th Street.

The estimated time for repairs is approximately one hour.

There were no injuries as a result of this crash.

The male driver has been charged with Disregarding a Red Light, and Driving without a Valid Operator’s License.
