Newport News, Virginia – According to police, a man driving a Honda crashed into the back of a dump truck around 2:00am Thursday, becoming trapped inside his car.
The dump truck was preparing to make a U-turn onto southbound Jefferson Avenue when the accident happened.
The Newport News fire department utilized heavy duty rescue equipment to extricate the victim from the vehicle.
Jefferson Avenue is now open in all directions.
The accident is under investigation.
