Man charged in Norfolk armed robbery

Norfolk, Va. – A Norfolk man is facing numerous charges relating to an armed robbery that happened on Tuesday.

On September 9 at 7:30 a.m., police received a call regarding a robbery to an individual that occurred in the 100 block of W. 28th Street.

The victim, a 50-year-old man, told police that a black male approached him, displayed a gun while demanding money, and then fired a shot at him. Responding officers saw the suspect a few blocks away from the robbery and immediately took him into custody.

The suspect has been identified as 27-year-old Mark W. Walker of the 1000 block of Auburn Avenue. The victim was not injured during the robbery, police say.

Mark Walker has been charged with Robbery, Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Brandishing a Firearm, and Discharging a Firearm in a Public Place.
