Suffolk Police are investigating a carjacking and robbery that occurred Monday morning in the parking lot of a restaurant downtown.

Police say they were called at 2:04 a.m. about the incident in the parking lot of Kelly’s Tavern in the 100 block of W. Constance Road.

The investigation revealed that the victims, one male and one female, left the restaurant shortly after it closed and were approached by two men armed with handguns who demanded the victims’ keys and wallets.

The men fled in one of the victim’s vehicles — a 2004 black Saturn Vue with Virginia tags.

The victims were not injured.

Suffolk Police searched the area immediately upon receiving the report with negative results.  Information was also provided to neighboring jurisdictions regarding the stolen vehicle.  The investigation is ongoing.
