Newport News, Va. – A teen was shot Wednesday morning in Newport News, police tell NewsChannel 3.
Police responded at 8:25 a.m. to the 2100 block of Madison Avenue for a shooting. Police say a 16-year-old Newport News girl was shot in the hand by someone she knew, a 17-year-old boy, also of Newport News.
The victim was transported to the hospital with a non-life threatening injury to her hand.
The suspect is not in custody at this time, police say.
