UPDATE: Dangerous convict captured after escaping police custody in Gloucester County

UPDATE: Xavier Brown, 24, was taken into custody by the Gloucester County Sheriff’s  office at 6:11 p.m. Warrants  were obtained charting him with two counts of assault on a law enforcement officer and two counts of obstruction of justice. 

He was found  within the area where deputies were searching just north of the counseling center. He was arrested without incident. 

Gloucester County, Va. – Officials are searching for a convict they say escaped custody on Friday afternoon.

They are searching in the area between Ark Road and Middle Peninsula Northern Neck Counseling Center.

New Kent Sheriff’s office had someone at the counseling center who was being evaluated when he assaulted the deputies and ran out of the center. They say he was last seen heading into the woods north of the center.

They are looking for a black man in his 20s. He is about 5’7, slim, and was wearing a red shirt and basketball style shorts.

If you see this person, do not approach him. Police say he is unarmed but is considered dangerous.

If you see him, please call 911 to notify officials about his whereabouts.
