James City County, Va. – Crews responded to a house fire in James City County over the weekend.
Fire units were dispatched to the home at 1979 Algonquin Trail in the Pocahontas Square subdivision on September 27 at 6:57 p.m.
James City County Fire personnel arrived at 7:01 p.m. to find light smoke showing from the home and a person inside the home attempting to extinguish the fire.
The fire was brought under control and extinguished by 7:07 p.m. Damage to the home included moderate fire damage to the stove, the kitchen cabinets, and the ceiling directly above the stove. James City County Fire units remained on the scene until 8:04 p.m. removing smoke and checking for additional fire damage.
No injuries have been reported.
James City County Fire officials have determined the cause of the fire to be unattended cooking.
