PICTURES: Giant pumpkin and watermelon break Virginia State Fair records

Doswell, Va- Two Virginia residents have broken the Virginia State Fair’s record for biggest pumpkin grown and largest watermelon ever produced.

Hank Houston of Spotslyvania County broke the 2007 record with a pumpkin that weighed in at a whopping 1,203.2 pounds. The previous record for a pumpkin was 1,138 pounds.

J.R. Brent of Lancaster County produced a watermelon weighing in at 218.5 pounds, which broke the previous 2007 record of 190.5 pounds.

The fair is open every day until Sunday, October 5, 2014. Tickets are $15.00 for adults and $10.00 for children.
