Hampton, Va. – A Hampton man is the proud winner of the top prize in Jewel 7’s game, according to Virginia Lottery officials.

John Campbell may have never been so happy to see a Monday. The Hampton man had a Virginia Lottery Scratcher ticket worth $100,000, and he couldn’t wait for the Lottery customer service center on Mercury Blvd. to open Monday morning so he could collect his prize, officials say.

Campbell won the top prize in the Jewel 7’s game. He bought the winning ticket at Food Lion, located at 85 Coliseum Crossing in Hampton.

That was on a Friday night. He kept the winning ticket on his dresser all weekend, waiting for Monday morning to come.

Campbell said he hopes to use his winnings to pay bills and maybe take a long-overdue vacation.

Jewel 7’s (game #1508) is one of dozens of Scratcher games available from the Virginia Lottery. Tickets can be Amethyst Purple, Topaz Blue, Peridot Green or Diamond Yellow.
