Gonzalo has strengthened to a Category 2 hurricane as it moves just northeast of the British Virgin Islands.

Gonzalo is moving northwest but will start to take more of a northerly turn late Wednesday as it moves into to the open Atlantic north of Puerto Rico.
Additional strengthening is expected and Gonzalo could become a major hurricane.
The long range forecast will keep Gonzalo off of the East Coast and moving closer to Bermuda by Friday.
We will likely see increased surf and rip currents for the end of the week and weekend.
