Newport News couple accused of abusing three young girls

Update: Loleana Burist has been granted bond. 

Newport News, Va. - Police have arrested a Newport News couple after a man reported that his granddaughters had been abused.

On October 6th, 2014, a grandfather of three girls said that the children, ages 14, 10 and 5, had been abused. Police started to investigate and they found that in May and June of 2014, the girls were victims of severe abuse while they were with their father and his wife. They say the abuse happened in the 800 block of 29th Street.

Police have arrested and charged Nicholas Dewayne Burist, 35, and his wife Loleane Burist, 45.  They were taken into custody on October 14th. The father, Nicholas, was charged with abduction, malicious wounding, stalking, child abuse, and injuries to children. His wife was charged for abduction and injuries to children.
