Sussex Co., Va. – An Amtrak train traveling through Virginia hit a farm truck that was on the tracks near Jarratt in Sussex County.
According to Virginia Sate Police, the accident happened around 2 p.m. Saturday. No one on board the train was injured; the driver of the farm truck has minor injuries.
According to a media spokesperson with Amtrak, the train involved was the 80 Carolinian train which operates from Charlotte to New York. There were 166 passengers on board at the time. The train was stopped while police investigated. It resumed service around 4 p.m.
The farm truck that was involved was carrying soybeans.
According to state police, they are still investigating how the accident happened and if anyone will be charged.
