Driver rescued from truck after head on collision in Suffolk

Suffolk, Va. – A driver is fighting for his life after a head on collision in Suffolk on Monday.

The crash happened in the 1200 block of Portsmouth Blvd. on Route 58.

Calls came in about the accident at 2:03 p.m. Police say a Ford Ranger pick-up truck and a dump truck slammed into each other. They say the pick up was going westbound  when it crossed over into the eastbound lanes.

The driver of the Ford pick-up truck had to be rescued from the vehicle and was airlifted to Sentara Norfolk General for life-threatening injuries.

The  driver of the dump truck was taken to Sentara Obici Hospital for non life threatening injuries.

This accident is still under investigation.
