Man taken into custody after attempted credit union robbery sent for psychological evaluation

Newport News, Va. – A 26-year-old Newport News taken into custody after an attempted credit union robbery has been sent for a psychological evaluation.

The man entered the Navy Federal Credit Union at 12828 Jefferson Ave. around 10:30am and presented a check for a large sum of money, according to police.

He then made threats, according to police, and was taken into custody by officers who arrived at the credit union.

He is not facing charges at this time.
