Raccoon tests positive for rabies in York County neighborhood

York County, Va. – The Peninsula Health Department is warning residents in one York County neighborhood about a raccoon that tested positive for rabies.

The animal was located on Cheadle Loop in the Seaford area of York County.

If you or anyone you know has been exposed, officials are asking you to contact the Health Department at 757-594-7340 and 757-890-3601 after hours.

Rabies can be fatal, but it’s preventable.

Officials are working to notify folks who live in the area.
