Woman hospitalized after pit bull attack in Norfolk

Norfolk, Va. – A woman was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries after being attacked by a pit bull in Norfolk Friday morning.

The attack happened around 7:45am in the area of 18th Bay Street and Pleasant Avenue, according to police.

After the attack, the dog ran to a residence in the 9500 block of 18th Bay Street. The owner of the dog was not home.

The dog is being held at the Norfolk Animal Care Center until the owner can be notified.

Charges of Maintaining a Nuisance Animal are pending against the owner.
