Gas leak secured after line struck in Norfolk

Norfolk, Va. – A two inch gas line was struck Saturday morning during a digging operation.

It happened around 11:20 a.m. on Major Avenue, which is off of West Little Creek Road.

An apartment was evacuated as a precaution, but the evacuation has since been lifted.

Crews with Virginia Natural Gas have secured the leak and West Little Creek Road has reopened open.

According to Norfolk Fire and Rescue, crews conducted atmosphere monitoring and no buildings or people are in danger.
